The Journey to Unshakable Faith: Lessons from Dr. David T. Collum
Many times, faith is defined as a conviction that transcends our sight, hearing, or touch and a belief in something...
A guide for every believer ready to understand the faith God already placed inside them.
Faith isn’t something you’re missing — it’s something you were given. Developing Your Sense of Faith walks you through what faith truly is, how to recognize it at work in your life, and how to use it to draw closer to God in every season.
Born on July 17, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois, David Collum Sr. has lived a life built on service, faith, and family. After serving as a vehicle mechanic in the U.S. Army beginning in 1981, he married his neighborhood sweetheart, Sabrina Jones, that same December — a marriage now spanning more than four decades, five children, and nine grandchildren. He gave his life to Jesus Christ in 1985, was called into ministry in 1987, and was ordained an elder in the Church of God in Christ in 1993. His first pastorate took root on a U.S. Army base in Heilbronn, Germany. Today, he writes to help others discover the faith that’s already theirs.
Every believer receives a measure of faith from God. This book unpacks what that means in plain, accessible language — helping readers see faith not as something rare or reserved for the spiritually elite, but as a gift already placed inside them.
Beyond definitions, Developing Your Sense of Faith offers real, applicable steps for putting faith into action — in prayer, in hardship, in daily decisions — so readers can move from simply believing to actively living out their faith.
At its heart, this book is about relationship. David Collum Sr. shows readers how a developed faith becomes the bridge that keeps them close to God through uncertainty, change, and growth
David Collum Sr. didn’t set out to become an author — he set out to serve. After more than a decade in the U.S. Army, including time as a vehicle mechanic, he came to know Jesus Christ in 1985 and felt the call to ministry just two years later. Years of training, pastoring, and walking alongside congregants through their own seasons of doubt and discovery convinced him that most people don’t lack faith — they lack a clear understanding of the faith they already have. That conviction, shaped over decades of pastoral ministry and ordained eldership in the Church of God in Christ, became the foundation for Developing Your Sense of Faith.
